A marketing journey
After studying Journalism I started my career at a publishing house in London’s West End. Marketing budgets were tiny and this set the scene for subsequent roles! It taught me the importance of focused marketing objectives and the best ways to reach the target audience and deliver ROI.
As my career progressed, happily so did the budgets! This brought new challenges and valuable experience in stakeholder relations. Larger budgets often meant answering to many teams and negotiating the best outcome for sponsorship and promotions. Fostering good relationships is a key part of the job, which I love.
However, being creative, driving innovative campaigns and ensuring that messaging is on point is always required 🙂 Even if the subject matter is dry, I have learnt how to produce engaging content using compelling content and campaigns.
So far my experience has included strategic planning, brand awareness, lead generation, retention, promotion, sponsorship, digital marketing and social media. These are all reflected in our Services as I help clients to achieve their marketing objectives.
In 2010 I completed the Professional Diploma in Marketing with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). In 2015 I upskilled and completed the Strategic Social Media Marketing course with Digital Mums. I have since completed a Google course and regularly attend marketing events and online training to keep my skills up to date. It’s great that freelancing enables me to learn more with each client and project.
In 2015, two children and a cat later, I decided that flexibility was required to balance life as a Mum and a Marketing Manager. I became a freelance Marketing Manager and in 2017 branded as Biscuit Comms – driven by working from home and eating too many biscuits! I enjoy working with a diverse range of clients, from yoga to office supplies. I love what I do and am passionate about using marketing to supercharge your business goals.
Apart from biscuits, you can find me enjoying travel, family life, interiors and the outdoors. Here’s me sampling the delights of New York – an enormous slab of cheesecake (having a break from biscuits)!
